Finding Joy In A World Of Pain- Dedicated To Our Brothers And Sisters In Boston

Finding Joy in a World Of Pain - Dedicated to Our Brothers and Sisters in Boston

How does one stay focused, joyous, hopeful in a world of pain?  I know how you feel some days it seems challenging.  But the dreamers, believers, hopeful and faithful ones must keep it going no matter what. In wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, I write to you with a heavy heart. When I read about the bombings on Yahoo, my chipper spirit took a hit.  I was having a good day yesterday getting a lot done and that headline flashed and I can feel the wind punched out of me. I was like no here we go again.  I remember when I learned of the Newtown shooting . I was at the hospital and my sister called and said Tammi 20 people are shot mostly kids. Oh man, the tears came down and I told another patient what I just heard. She told me not to cry. But I could not stop the tears. I kept thinking of the kids and the adults who were shot.  I am not here to write to you and lie to you. It can be challenging to find joy in the midst of bombings like this and shootings. It is hard to smile after you hear that children have lost their lives in Newtown as well as brave adults.  But some way and some how we have to stand tall. We have to keep on spreading the love,  the love that we believe in. I just want to believe there are more good people in this world than evil. I believe in my heart that your car can break down and someone will help you. I believe if you fall down in a restaurant someone would come to your aid.  I believe that people of all races will help each other. I am going to keep my hope alive until I leave this earth.  We do have joy.  I know I do. I live in a great condo and in a great neighborhood. I am blessed enough to have my sister and brother-in-law live across the hall for me.  Don't get no better than that or worse.  It is better for me. I am blessed enough to date a wonderful guy and have wonderful friends.    I am in good health and I am fortunate enough to be a life coach.  Next week I go and meet with someone to discuss my volunteering efforts for a homeless shelter. I have joy to be able to bring joy and gifts to a group of homeless women.  Keep on finding the joy in a world of pain. Keep on praying and helping others who are hurt.  Light will always trump darkness.  The world is still full of great people like you and like me.

No Fear Here

No Fear Here

Have you ever been so afraid of something that you absolutely dreaded it? Maybe it was a relationship that you were in and you had a fear of your partner ending it. Maybe it was a job you hated and you were afraid that you would be let go. Perhaps it was a car that ran very badly and you were afraid of it stalling on you. Whatever your fear was, big or small, it still was fear. Looking back, how much of the things you so dreaded actually occurred. Have you noticed that we either act or don't act out of fear? Fear of rejection, failed plans, of what others may say or may not say. I think we give fear too much power. Example, have you ever heard a story about a relationship that ended becuase one person had fear of telling the other how they truly feel. so the let he or she go and because of fear of rejection, the other person never knew how they truly felt. Many relationships end out of fear or people stay together out of fear. What a way to live!
Maybe for today we will say boldly NO FEAR HERE. Wouldn't it be grand if we could have a day of NO FEAR HERE! What exactly is fear? It is an emotional response to a perceived threat. I like it that the word perceived was use here. That means we are possibly believing that something is a threat without any full true knowledge or proof that we are in harms way. So there is a high probability that a lot of the fear we are experiencing holds no truth! I guess what I am saying in a nut shell is forget that fear and go for whatever it is you want to go for. Don't always worry about the outcome. Trust your gut and go for it. What is the worst that can happen? You just may succeed. NO FEAR HERE!
